Set the fiscal year and period

Use the Year and Period Setup utility to:

  • Set the fiscal year (for the upcoming planning cycle) and the first month (period) of the fiscal year.
  • Set the Day Type.
  • Set the FTE Scale.
  • Define the number of workdays in the current year, last year, and next year.
  • Set the standard Full Time Equivalent (FTE) hours worked by employees in the selected FTE scale.

NOTE: The standard FTE hours you set in this worksheet are displayed as the default FTE Hours in the Workday Periods driver.

The FTE Hours you select are reflected on the plan file Summary, Forecast, Initiatives, and Forecast History tabs:

To set year and period:

  1. In the RF Admin task pane, under Setup, double-click Year and Period Setup.
  2. In the Primary Inputs section, complete the following options:

    Option Description

    Fiscal Year

    Select the fiscal year.
Fiscal Start Month Select the month in which the fiscal year starts.
    Day Type

    Select one of the following:

    • Calendar Days – Includes all days in the calendar.

    • Work Days – Includes only workdays. The FTE Scale setting for this is Daily and cannot be changed. If you select this setting, change the number of hours per day in the FTE Hours field.

    FTE Scale

Sets the scale used for the Day Type. If you selected Calendar Days in the Day Type, the options for FTE Scale include Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly.

NOTE: Note that if you select Work Days for Day Type, the only option For FTE Scale is Daily.

After setting FTE Scale, be sure to set the FTE Hours field to correspond with your selection (for example, if you select Monthly, change the FTE Hours to the number of FTE hours per month).

    FTE Hours

Sets the number of hours for the time period selected in the FTE Scale field. When you select the FTE scale, the default matching FTE Hours is displayed to the right of the hours field as a guide. If your organization uses a different number of hours for a day, week, month or year, multiply that number by the number in the scale accordingly.

  3. In the Working Days Inputs area, for each fiscal month, enter the number of working days for the current year, last year, and next year.

TIP: To hide the year and/or period tables that display on the right, click the corresponding checkboxes under the Working Days Inputs section.

  4. Click Save.
